About grantZA
grantZA is an independent information portal operated by SNEGO GROUP (Pty) Ltd. We research, verify, and publish plain-language guides on government grants, bursaries, and funding programmes across South Africa - so that no eligible citizen misses out simply because the paperwork was too confusing to navigate.
To make South Africa's complex grant landscape navigable for every ordinary person - regardless of their level of education, internet access, or familiarity with government systems.
Our Story
The idea for grantZA grew from a simple, frustrating observation: South Africa has one of the world's largest social protection systems - covering over 18 million beneficiaries - yet millions of eligible citizens fail to apply for grants they are fully entitled to. The reason is rarely lack of need. It is almost always a lack of clear, accessible information.
Government websites and official circulars are written for administrators, not applicants. They are dense, jargon-heavy, and slow to update. When a policy changes - such as SASSA's biometric verification requirements or a shift in the NSFAS funding model - many applicants only find out when their application is rejected or their payment stopped.
SNEGO GROUP was established in 2024 to bridge this information gap. We built grantZA as a dedicated, independent research and publishing platform, where every guide is written in plain South African English, cross-referenced against official government sources, and updated whenever policy changes.
What We Cover
grantZA covers the full spectrum of government-backed financial support available in South Africa. Our editorial team researches each programme from primary sources - including official Government Gazette publications, SASSA circulars, NSFAS policy documents, and Department of Agriculture advisories - and translates these into structured, easy-to-follow guides.
Our Editorial Team
Our content is produced by a small team of South African researchers and writers with backgrounds in public policy, social welfare, financial journalism, and community development. Every guide on grantZA is reviewed before publication for factual accuracy and policy compliance.

Our Editorial Standards
We hold ourselves to a clear set of standards to ensure that every piece of information published on grantZA is trustworthy and useful.
- Primary Source Verification: All grant amounts, eligibility thresholds, and application deadlines are verified against official government publications before being published. We link to these sources directly wherever possible.
- Clear Publication & Update Dates: Every article and guide displays its original publication date and most recent review date, so readers always know how current the information is.
- No Paid Placement: We do not accept payment to feature or rank any specific grant programme above another. Our coverage is determined solely by the relevance and importance of the programme to South African citizens.
- Clear Independence Declaration: Every page on grantZA carries our standard disclaimer. We are not SASSA, NSFAS, or any government body. We cannot process applications, release payments, or change a beneficiary's status.
- Reader Corrections Welcome: If you spot an error or outdated detail, please use our contact form to let us know. We review all correction requests within 48 hours.
Corrections Policy
Government policy changes frequently. SASSA grant amounts shift every April with the national budget. NSFAS rules are updated at the start of each academic year. Despite our best efforts, some details on grantZA may become outdated between our regular review cycles.
If you identify an error, please contact us at info@snego.group or use our contact page. We will investigate, update the relevant guide, and - where the correction is material - add a visible correction notice to the article.
