About this bursary
Afrimat Mining Services provides funding support for tertiary students in South Africa pursuing qualifications in Mechanical Engineering. The bursary targets applicants registered for a National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor's Degree.
Afrimat is a JSE-listed mining and materials group operating across multiple provinces. The bursary programme aims to help motivated students build technical skills and gain practical exposure to the sector.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen who has successfully completed matric.
- You need to be registered for a National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited South African tertiary institution.
- A strong academic track record and a clear commitment to the mechanical engineering field are required.
- You must meet medical fitness standards aligned with the Mine Health and Safety Act and company guidelines.
- You must be prepared to complete vacation work and travel to project locations during holiday periods.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants who are not South African citizens will not be considered.
- Students enrolled at non-accredited tertiary facilities are ineligible.
- Candidates who fail to pass the required medical fitness assessments will be disqualified.
