About this bursary
Afrimat Nkomati Anthracite provides bursaries for South African students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in technical and scientific disciplines. The program targets individuals registered for National Diplomas, BTech degrees, or Bachelor degrees.
The funding helps develop qualified professionals for the mining and materials manufacturing sector. Candidates living in surrounding local communities near the company's Mpumalanga operations receive primary consideration, but applications are welcome nationwide.
Selected students must maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout their studies at accredited public institutions in South Africa.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must be South African students registered or intending to register at an accredited local tertiary institution.
- You must be enrolled for a National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
- Candidates need a proven academic record showing a minimum overall average mark of 60%.
- Preference is given to applicants who reside within the Mawewe, Matsamo, and Lugedlane local communities.
- Students from all other geographical areas across South Africa may also submit applications.
You do not qualify if
- Students with an academic average below 60% will not be considered.
- Applicants enrolled in fields outside the four specified qualification categories are ineligible.
- Candidates studying at unaccredited or private institutions are not covered.

- Proof of registration at an accredited South African tertiary institution
- Proof of residence issued by a recognised Tribal Office
