About this bursary
AfriSam offers financial support for students pursuing national diplomas in engineering disciplines. The bursary covers three years of study to help recipients complete their qualifications and successfully start their careers.
The programme is designed for students focusing on Civil Engineering at Peninsula Quarry or Mechanical Engineering at Rheebok Quarry. It aims to build technical talent within the South African construction materials sector.
Selection targets candidates with strong academic performance. Preference is given to female applicants and candidates from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must be registered for or planning to study towards an accredited Civil Engineering Diploma or Mechanical Engineering Diploma.
- Studies must take place at a recognized public tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Candidates must hold an overall academic average of at least 60%.
- Applicants are required to display strong behavioural standards.
- Preference is granted to female students and historically disadvantaged South Africans.
You do not qualify if
- Students pursuing degree programs or post-graduate qualifications.
- Applicants with an overall academic average below 60%.
- Candidates studying at non-accredited or private institutions.
