About this bursary
The Amandla Omoya Trust provides comprehensive financial support for tertiary education to students from local communities in the Eastern Cape. Managed by StudyTrust, this funding covers tuition, registration, study materials, housing, and food allowances.
This initiative targets youth living near the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm, specifically within towns like Humansdorp, Hankey, Patensie, Weston, Loerie, Thornhill, and Jeffreys Bay. Funding is available for any field of study at accredited public or private tertiary institutions.
The trust prioritises applicants who show both academic potential and financial need. Recipients may pursue university degrees, national diplomas, or practical skills qualifications.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must hold South African citizenship.
- You must permanently live within a 50km radius of Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm, covering places such as Humansdorp, Jeffreys Bay, Weston, Hankey, Loerie, Thornhill, or Patensie.
- You need to be currently in matric or hold a completed matric certificate.
- You must plan to study or currently study toward an NQF level 6 qualification, national diploma, or degree.
- You must have an offer of admission from a recognised public or private South African university, university of technology, or TVET college.
- You must demonstrate proven financial need.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants living outside the designated 50km radius.
- Non-South African citizens.
- Students pursuing qualifications below NQF level 6 unless part of approved skills programmes.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified copy of latest matric results or matric certificate
- Certified copy of latest tertiary academic records if already studying
- Official proof of acceptance on institution letterhead
- Proof of residential address within eligible communities
- Proof of household income such as payslips, unemployment affidavits, or grant receipts
