About this bursary
The Amazon Recruitment Bursary supports South African technology students entering their final years of study. Managed by StudyTrust, the programme aims to assist talented candidates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds in completing their degrees.
This bursary is aimed at students entering either the third year of a four-year qualification or the final year of a three-year undergraduate degree. Candidates must intend to continue directly into an Honours degree and be ready to enter full-time employment by early 2028.
Recipients gain practical industry experience through a compulsory paid summer internship at Amazon. This workplace exposure allows candidates to work on live technical projects and potentially secure a full-time role as a Software Development Engineer.
Obligation
Recipients may be required to work for Amazon after graduation for a period equal to the duration of bursary funding.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must hold South African citizenship and have completed matric.
- You must be enrolled at a recognized South African university in an eligible technology degree.
- You must enter your final year of a 3-year degree or third year of a 4-year degree in 2027.
- You must intend to complete Honours level studies by the end of 2027.
- You must have achieved a minimum overall academic average of 65%.
- You must participate in Amazon's paid summer internship programme.
- You must be available to start full-time work at Amazon in January 2028 if offered a position.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens are not eligible.
- Students with an academic average below 65% will not be considered.
- Applicants unable to commit to the vacation internship or employment terms cannot qualify.

- Certified proof of household income for parents or guardians
- Certified death certificates if parents are deceased
- Certified divorce decree or sworn statement if parents are separated

- Certified proof of residential address
