About this bursary
African Marine Solutions provides bursary support for students entering specialized maritime studies. The program covers university tuition as a standard requirement, with possible assistance for textbooks and campus accommodation based on student need and available resources.
This opportunity is tailored for young South Africans aiming to build careers at sea or in maritime operations. Candidates must intend to study at a recognized university or SAMSA-accredited training institution during the 2027 academic year.
Recipients must pay their own initial registration fees. Upon completing studies, bursars may be invited to sign employment contracts based on company operational demands.
Obligation
Graduates may be required to take up employment with AMSOL based on company requirements.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must be South African citizens.
- You need to be currently in matric or already possess a matric certificate.
- A minimum achievement of 60% or Level 5 is required in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science.
- You must plan to study towards one of the approved maritime qualifications in 2027.
- Studies must take place at an accredited university or SAMSA-approved maritime facility.
- You cannot hold external bursary agreements or funding commitments for 2027.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens cannot apply.
- Students receiving other bursary funding for the 2027 academic year are ineligible.
- Applicants with under 60% in English, Mathematics, or Physical Science will not qualify.
