About this bursary
The Auditor-General of South Africa offers full bursary support for students training to become Chartered Accountants. Funding pays for university tuition, accommodation, meals, and textbooks at SAICA-accredited South African universities.
The scheme seeks to develop skilled finance professionals who will strengthen accountability and financial oversight in the public sector. Candidates can join from matric or at any undergraduate level up to postgraduate studies.
Recipients gain direct entry into a SAICA-accredited training environment, completing their mandatory articles contract with AGSA upon completion of their degree.
Obligation
Graduates must complete their SAICA articles through a formal training contract at AGSA.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must be South African citizens.
- You must be currently in matric or registered for full-time study in a SAICA-accredited CA-stream qualification.
- Matriculants require a bachelor degree pass with at least 60% in Mathematics and 60% in English.
- First-year students need a minimum of 60% in Financial Accounting alongside 60% in matric Mathematics and English.
- Second-year students need at least 60% in both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting.
- Postgraduate applicants must achieve a minimum 55% average across core modules and secure CTA admission.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens.
- Students taking Mathematical Literacy in matric.
- Students enrolled in non-CA accounting programmes or unaccredited institutions.
