About this bursary

The Aurora Wind Power Bursary is a dedicated tertiary funding scheme managed by StudyTrust for the 2027 academic year. It supports local youth from the West Coast region who plan to study toward a bachelor degree in any field at a public South African university.

Aurora Wind Power operates the West Coast One wind farm near Vredenburg. Through this financial support program, the company invests in human capital by easing the financial burden of higher education for deserving local students.

Bursary awards are tailored to individual financial requirements. The funding is restricted to public institutions, and private colleges will not be funded under this programme.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • You must hold South African citizenship.
  • You must live in the West Coast area of the Western Cape.
  • You must be in Grade 12 or have completed matric at a West Coast school.
  • You must plan to enroll or be enrolled in a three- or four-year degree.
  • You must study at a recognized public university in South Africa.
  • Your combined household income must not exceed R350 000 per year.

You do not qualify if

  • Students attending or planning to attend private higher education institutions.
  • Applicants living outside the West Coast geographical area.
  • Non-South African citizens.
  • Households with an annual income above R350 000.
  • Postgraduate students or diploma candidates.

Documents you need to submit

  • Certified copy of your South African ID document
  • Mid-year matric results if currently in Grade 12
  • National Senior Certificate if matric is already completed
  • Latest university academic transcript on official letterhead if currently studying
  • Proof of university application or acceptance on official letterhead
  • Proof of residential address in the West Coast region
  • Proof of household income including payslips, affidavits, or grant slips
