About this bursary
Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire provides bursary funding for South African undergraduate students across all academic fields. The bursary contributes towards tuition costs up to R35 000 per academic year, with funds paid directly to the student's university.
Bakwena operates and maintains major portions of the N1 and N4 toll highways. Through this educational initiative, the company supports local youth development and invests in skill building within communities situated near its road infrastructure.
Preference is given to applicants living within six kilometres of the Bakwena N1N4 highway corridors. Funding is awarded for one academic year at a time and may be renewed based on academic performance and fund availability.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must be South African citizens who are currently enrolled at a recognised local university.
- You need to be entering your second year or higher in any undergraduate field.
- An overall academic average of at least 60% achieved at tertiary level is required.
- Preference is given to students residing within six kilometres of the Bakwena N1N4 route, which stretches from Tshwane to Bela-Bela and westwards toward the Botswana border.
You do not qualify if
- First-year university students are not eligible for this funding scheme.
- Postgraduate candidates and non-South African citizens will not be considered.
- Applicants with an academic average under 60% do not qualify.
