About this bursary

Columbus Stainless offers all-inclusive financial support to South African students pursuing tertiary qualifications for the 2027 academic year. Based in Mpumalanga, Columbus Stainless is part of the Acerinox Group and operates as the only producer of stainless steel on the African continent.

The bursary scheme supports critical skill areas required within the manufacturing and metallurgical sectors. It covers undergraduate degrees in accounting, finance, and engineering, as well as postgraduate honours studies in material sciences.

What the bursary covers

All-inclusive bursary funding covering tertiary study costs

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must study or plan to study at an accredited South African tertiary institution.
  • For Accounting Sciences or Finance, you must be in Matric in 2026 and starting your degree in 2027.
  • For Metallurgical Engineering, you must already be registered and studying towards a BEng in Metallurgical Engineering.
  • For Material Sciences, you must intend to enroll in an Honours programme in 2027.

You do not qualify if

  • Non-South African citizens.
  • Students pursuing qualifications outside the specified target fields.
  • Applicants studying at unaccredited tertiary institutions.
