About this bursary
The Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary provides financial backing to South African students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in commerce, finance, and technology. Funded by Coronation Fund Managers, the programme aims to assist high-achieving individuals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
This opportunity is targeted at full-time students enrolled at public South African universities. Applicants must show strong academic performance alongside demonstrated leadership qualities.
Recipients must commit to a service contract after graduating, working for Coronation for one year for every year of funding accepted. Preference is given to applicants in their second year of study or higher, as well as candidates meeting employment equity criteria.
Obligation
Graduates must work for Coronation Fund Managers for one year per year of funding received.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must currently be in Matric or have completed your Matric certificate.
- You must be enrolled or accepted for full-time undergraduate study in a commerce, finance, computer science, data analysis, or software engineering degree.
- You must study at a recognised public university in South Africa.
- Matric applicants require a minimum overall average of 75%.
- Current university students require a minimum overall average of 70%.
- Preference is given to second-year students onwards, candidates from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, and those meeting employment equity goals.
You do not qualify if
- Studies at TVET colleges, community colleges, private institutions, or international universities.
- Distance learning qualifications, including UNISA.
- Postgraduate qualifications, diplomas, certificates, or N4 to N6 courses.
- Students taking longer than the minimum required time to finish their degree.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- Grade 11 final results and latest Grade 12 results (stamped by school) if currently in Matric
- Certified copy of Matric certificate if completed
- University acceptance or provisional acceptance letter
- Proof of university registration on official letterhead if currently enrolled
- Certified copy of latest official academic transcript
- One-page motivational statement on your choice of study and future plans
- Written letter of recommendation attesting to your character and academic ability (not from family or friends)
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Proof of household income (payslips, bank statements, affidavit, or SASSA grant proof)
- Parent or guardian signed consent form and ID copy if applicant is under 18
- EEA1 form and doctor's note if applicant has a disability
Certified copies must not be older than three months. Multiple documents for single uploads should be scanned into one file.
