About this bursary
The Energy Mobility Education Trust Scholarship provides complete funding for Black South African students completing their final undergraduate year or undertaking postgraduate qualifications. Originally launched by bp Southern Africa, the trust supports studies in commerce, science, engineering, and technology fields.
The programme aims to ease the financial burden on high-achieving youth and prepare them for meaningful careers. Alongside direct university fees, successful applicants receive personal computer equipment, prescribed study material, and ongoing personal guidance throughout their studies.
Funding is valid only at six partner institutions across South Africa. Applicants must meet specified income limits to be eligible for selection.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must hold South African citizenship and be 32 years of age or younger.
- You must identify as Black in line with B-BBEE Act definitions.
- You must be entering your final year of undergraduate study or enrolled in postgraduate studies such as Honours, Masters, or PhD.
- You must study at one of the partner universities: WITS, UJ, UP, NWU, UL, or UWC.
- Your combined annual household income must not exceed R600 000.
- Your qualification must fall within one of the approved fields of study.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants older than 32 years.
- Students registered at non-partner universities.
- First-year or second-year undergraduate students.
- Applicants with a household income exceeding R600 000 per year.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of your South African ID document
- Full academic transcript on official university letterhead
- Current fee statement on official university letterhead
- Proof of university acceptance or registration on university letterhead
- Parents or guardians proof of household income, such as recent payslips, affidavits, or grant vouchers
- Proof of personal income if applicable
