About this bursary
EY offers bursary opportunities for South African students who want to study towards a Chartered Accounting qualification. The firm provides two streams: an Academic Merit Bursary and an Academic Merit with Financial Need Bursary.
This funding scheme targets top academic performers in matric and university, supporting students who intend to study at SAICA-accredited institutions across South Africa.
Recipients must commit to working at EY by entering into a three-year training contract after completing their degree.
Obligation
Recipients must complete a training contract with EY for at least three years after finishing their degree.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must hold South African citizenship.
- You must currently be in matric or have finished matric.
- You need at least four A grades in matric, excluding Life Orientation.
- You must plan to study or be currently studying a SAICA-accredited Chartered Accounting degree.
- You must study at a recognized SAICA-accredited university in South Africa.
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record and accounting talent.
- Candidates requesting financial support must submit proof of household financial need.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens cannot apply.
- Students studying non-SAICA accredited accounting programmes are ineligible.

- Updated Curriculum Vitae
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- Certified copy of Grade 11 final results (for matriculants)
- Certified copies of Grade 12 term 1 and 2 results (for matriculants)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (for university students)
- Full academic transcript including mid-year 2026 results (for university students)
- Official university acceptance letter
- Pro-forma fee statement or invoice for 2027
- Three months of recent bank statements
- Parents or guardians proof of household income (if applying for financial need)
