About this bursary
Eskom is South Africa's national electricity utility responsible for generating and distributing power across the country. Through its bursary scheme, the organization finances higher education for promising students who want to build careers in engineering and supporting industries.
The funding opportunity targets matriculants preparing to start tertiary studies as well as registered first and second year university students. By funding technical and commercial qualifications, Eskom builds skilled human capacity for the national power network.
Bursaries are available for both BEng or BSc degrees at public universities and national diplomas at universities of technology. Qualified applicants living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to submit applications.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must be in Grade 12 or have completed Matric in 2025.
- Engineering degree applicants in Matric require minimum Level 4 in English, Level 5 in Pure Mathematics, and Level 5 in Physical Science.
- Engineering diploma applicants in Matric require minimum Level 4 in English, Pure Mathematics, and Physical Science.
- Current university degree students need a minimum overall average of 60%.
- Current university of technology diploma students need a minimum overall average of 50%.
- You must study or plan to study at a recognised public South African university or university of technology.
- You cannot hold any other bursary or financial aid contract.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens.
- Students holding financial support or bursaries from other institutions.
- Postgraduate students.
- Students enrolled at private higher education institutions.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- Grade 11 final report and latest Grade 12 results if currently in Matric
- Official Matric certificate if you completed Grade 12
- Full academic transcript if currently studying at university
- Proof of conditional acceptance from a public South African tertiary institution
