About this bursary

The Investec CSI Bursary scheme offers comprehensive financial assistance to South African students pursuing undergraduate degrees relevant to the financial services sector. It is administered by StudyTrust and pays for all essential study-related expenses.

The programme targets high-achieving youth who demonstrate financial need. Investec aims to support promising individuals to become qualified professionals, economic contributors, and active citizens.

Funding is restricted to public universities within South Africa. First-year Actuarial Science students are accepted, though students taking Business Science at UCT may apply beyond their first year.

What the bursary covers

Full payment for all study-related expenses at public South African universities

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • You must hold South African citizenship.
  • You must be completing Matric or currently enrolled in your first year of full-time undergraduate study.
  • You must plan to study or already be studying at an accredited SA public university.
  • You must have obtained at least 70% for Pure Mathematics in Matric.
  • You must have scored at least 70% for English First Additional Language or 65% for English Home Language in Matric.
  • You must have achieved a minimum of 60% in all other Matric subjects.
  • Current university students need a minimum first-semester average of 60%.
  • Actuarial Science applicants must be in their first year of study, except for UCT Business Science students.

You do not qualify if

  • Students taking Mathematical Literacy in Matric do not qualify.
  • Studies at private tertiary institutions are not funded.
  • Senior university students past their first year are ineligible, except for specified UCT courses.

Documents you need to submit

  • Certified copy of South African identity document
  • Mid-year first semester results or recent academic progress report
  • Matric certificate if already completed
  • Proof of household income including payslips, affidavits, or bank statements
  • SASSA grant letter if applicable
  • Death certificates of deceased parents if applicable
  • Divorce decree or legal separation affidavit if applicable
