About this bursary

Investec offers financial support to South African high school learners through its High School Bursary Programme. Administered by StudyTrust, this award covers students entering Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 in 2027.

The scheme focuses on learners attending rural and township schools who show strong academic performance in technical subjects. Investec aims to support young people so they can finish school and move on to higher education.

Learners remain at their current schools for the duration of the funding. Selected schools must meet specific academic standards, including high matric pass rates.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • Applicants must be South African citizens entering Grade 10, 11, or 12 in 2027.
  • You must take Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, Accounting, and English as core subjects.
  • A minimum score of 70 percent is required for Pure Mathematics, English, and all other subjects.
  • Demonstrated financial need is compulsory for all candidates.
  • You must have attended your current high school for at least one full year.
  • Your school must achieve at least a 90 percent matric pass rate and an 80 percent university entrance rate.
  • At least 75 percent of learners at your school must take Pure Mathematics, with 75 percent passing it at 50 percent or higher.

You do not qualify if

  • Students taking Mathematical Literacy are not eligible.
  • Non-South African citizens cannot apply.
  • Learners who have spent less than one year at their current school are excluded.
  • Students enrolled at schools that fail to meet the required matric pass thresholds will not qualify.

  • Certified copy of June 2025 and final 2025 school results
  • Certified copy of June 2026 school report
  • Copies of certificates for academic or school achievements
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Proof of household income such as payslips, tax statements, or affidavits for unemployed parents
