About this bursary

Ivanplats offers financial funding to university students living in the host communities around its Limpopo operations. The scheme supports students pursuing tertiary qualifications across technical disciplines for up to four years.

This initiative aims to build local skills and support historically disadvantaged youth. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited South African public university.

Students in mining streams must be willing to undertake practical training on the surface and underground at mining sites.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must come from a historically disadvantaged background.
  • You need to live in a community surrounding the Ivanplats mine in Limpopo.
  • A completed Matric certificate is required.
  • You must be enrolled or accepted for an undergraduate degree at an accredited public university in South Africa.
  • Both first-year and senior undergraduate students may apply.
  • You must pass a medical fitness test and be willing to work underground for mining qualifications.

You do not qualify if

  • Postgraduate students are not eligible.
  • Applicants living outside the designated Limpopo host communities will not be considered.
  • Non-South African citizens cannot apply.

  • Proof of university acceptance or current registration
  • Full official academic transcript or record
  • Proof of residence letter from a tribal authority or ward councillor
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae

How you are selected
