About this bursary
The JDK Benefit Trust Bursary provides financial support to Black South African students who want to pursue undergraduate qualifications in business, management, commercial, and health and safety fields. Established in 2016, the trust funds tertiary studies and delivers practical skills initiatives that help young people become self-sufficient.
Funding aims to uplift candidates from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. The trust places special emphasis on supporting Black female students and individuals with disabilities to encourage broader social and economic inclusion across South Africa.
Beside financial assistance for university or college studies, bursary recipients gain access to empowerment workshops intended to support long-term career growth.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen classified as Black and previously disadvantaged.
- Applicants must be between 17 and 21 years old.
- You must currently be in Matric or have completed your Matric exams.
- You must be enrolled or planning to enroll for an undergraduate qualification at a recognized public university, technikon, or college in South Africa.
- Your field of study must fall into accounting, economics, health and safety, HR, logistics, management sciences, or marketing.
- Applicants must display strong self-motivation, ambition, and personal drive.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants outside the 17 to 21 age group.
- Postgraduate students or non-South African citizens.
- Students pursuing qualifications outside the specified commercial, management, or health fields.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African identity document
- Grade 11 final results and latest Matric results, if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate, if matriculation is finished
- Full official academic transcript, if currently at tertiary level
- Bank account confirmation letter or recent bank statement
- Proof of residential address not older than three months
- SARS tax income reference number, if available
