Jones & Wagener offers bursaries for South African students pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering and earth sciences. The bursary pays for tuition fees at minimum, with possible support for residence accommodation and a book allowance.

Established in 1966, Jones & Wagener is a South African specialist engineering and environmental consultancy. The company provides bursaries to develop top technical talent in civil engineering, geology, and environmental disciplines.

Successful applicants must complete six weeks of paid vacation work every year at the firm's Rivonia or Centurion offices. Graduates are also required to work for the company after finishing their studies for a duration matching the funding received.

Obligation

Recipients must work for Jones & Wagener for a period equal to the number of years funded, plus complete 6 weeks of annual vacation work.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • Applicants must be South African citizens who have completed Matric or are currently in Grade 12.
  • You need a minimum final mark of 75% for both Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric or Grade 11.
  • You must be studying or planning to study full-time toward an eligible BEng or BSc degree at an accredited South African university.
  • Candidates must show strong overall academic performance and demonstrate financial need.
  • Preference is given to applicants in alignment with Black Economic Empowerment objectives.

You do not qualify if

  • Non-South African citizens are not eligible to apply.
  • Students enrolled at unaccredited or private institutions will not be considered.
  • Applicants taking mathematical literacy instead of pure mathematics will not qualify.
