About this bursary

The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure runs the Masakh'iSizwe Bursary Programme to fund students pursuing qualifications in transport, engineering, and built environment fields. The award pays for core tertiary expenses including tuition, accommodation, meals, and books.

Launched in 2006, this scheme aims to tackle critical technical skills shortages within South Africa. It helps young people complete full-time higher education and start careers in public infrastructure projects.

Bursars must study at one of three partner institutions in the Western Cape. Recipients agree to work back their funding period at the department after finishing their studies.
