About this bursary
Mohau Capital offers bursary funding for Black South African students pursuing tertiary qualifications in finance and mathematics for the 2027 academic year. Mohau Capital is a Black female-owned advisory firm focused on Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment strategies.
The programme targets students who are in their second year of study or higher. It seeks to relieve financial pressure for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who display strong academic performance and leadership potential.
Applicants must have achieved an overall academic average of at least 70% to qualify for consideration.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must identify as Black.
- Must come from a previously disadvantaged background.
- Must be currently enrolled in your second year of tertiary study or higher.
- Must be studying towards Accounting Science, Applied Mathematics, Investment Banking, or a related Finance degree.
- Must maintain an overall academic average of at least 70% (B average).
- Must demonstrate leadership traits and a commitment to contributing to South Africa's economic growth.
You do not qualify if
- First-year tertiary students.
- Non-South African citizens.
- Students with an academic average below 70%.
- Students enrolled in fields outside accounting, mathematics, or finance.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID document or passport
- Proof of university registration
- Full official academic record showing latest results
- Motivational letter explaining your reasons for applying and selection suitability
- Proof of residential address
- Parents or guardians proof of household income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, or grant proof)
- ID documents or passports of parents, guardians, or next of kin
- Proof of any existing study funding or bursaries, if applicable
