About this bursary
The Office of the Premier in the Northern Cape invites local students to apply for tertiary funding for the 2027 academic period. The scheme covers registration fees, tuition, books, and university accommodation for undergraduate qualifications.
This initiative aims to address scarce skills and fill critical vacancies in both public and private sectors across the province. Priority is given to fields within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Funding levels are determined by annual household income up to R800 000. Preference is given to applicants attending public South African universities, students living with disabilities, and candidates with financial need.
Obligation
Recipients must enter into a contractual agreement with the Northern Cape Provincial Government.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen residing in the Northern Cape.
- You must be unemployed and between 18 and 30 years of age.
- You must be in matric or have completed matric with a strong academic track record.
- You must be accepted or registered for a full-time or online first degree at an accredited public higher education institution in South Africa.
- Your gross household income must not exceed R800 000 per year.
- Preference goes to academically deserving applicants, students with disabilities, and those attending public institutions.
You do not qualify if
- Postgraduate students do not qualify.
- Applicants with pre-existing or outstanding study debts are excluded.
- Non-South African citizens and non-residents of the Northern Cape are not eligible.

- Certified copy of South African identity document
- Certified copy of Grade 12 latest results if currently in matric
- Certified copy of matric certificate if completed
- Certified copy of latest academic record if currently at university
- Certified copy of university admission or provisional acceptance letter
- Proof of tertiary registration where applicable
- Curriculum outline of intended degree course
- SARS tax status letter for unemployed applicants aged 23 to 30
- Proof of income for parents, guardians, or spouse (pay slips, bank statements, tax assessments, or SASSA grant slips)
Certified copies must not be older than six months.
How to apply
- 11. Obtain the official application form online or collect one from regional premier or labour offices.
- 22. Complete all required fields on the application form accurately.
- 33. Gather and certify all required supporting documentation.
- 44. Submit your completed form and documents via email to [email protected] with the subject line 'NCPG Bursary 2027'.
- 55. Alternatively, hand-deliver your application pack to the Office of the Premier in Kimberley or designated regional collection points.
