About this bursary
The Orange South Africa Trust offers bursary funding in partnership with Siyakha for the 2027 academic year. It covers tertiary costs for students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and information technology.
This initiative empowers young Black South Africans by removing financial barriers to higher education. It aims to develop skilled technical professionals who can contribute meaningfully to the country's economy.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and demonstrate strong academic achievement, specifically scoring at least 70% in matric mathematics.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must hold South African citizenship and identify as Black.
- Candidates must be between 18 and 35 years of age.
- You must currently be in matric or have already completed matric.
- A minimum final mark of 70% in matric Mathematics is required.
- Applicants must be enrolled or intending to register for an undergraduate or postgraduate STEM or IT degree at an accredited public South African university.
- Existing university students must show satisfactory academic progression.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens do not qualify.
- Applicants studying fields outside of STEM or IT will not be considered.
- Students with less than 70% in matric Mathematics are ineligible.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- Latest Grade 12 results if currently in matric
- Matric certificate if high school is completed
- Latest official academic transcripts if currently at university
- Proof of university admission or registration
- 500-word motivation letter supporting the application
- Curriculum Vitae highlighting academic records and experience
- Proof of household income such as payslips or unemployment affidavits
- Three months of recent bank statements from parents or guardians
- Medical proof of disability, if applicable
