About this bursary

The PwC Bursary supports South African students who aim to become Chartered Accountants. Offered by global professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, this financial scheme helps candidates pursue accredited accounting degrees.

Funding is awarded according to academic performance and financial circumstances. Depending on your needs, the funding package can cover complete tuition, required textbooks, and residential costs.

Recipients join the PwC Chartered Accounting training framework upon completing their CTA or honours degree. Funding does not cover preliminary bridging courses.

Obligation

Recipients begin a SAICA training contract with PwC after completing their CTA or honours degree.

Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA)
SAICA-accredited Undergraduate Accounting Degrees

What the bursary covers

Fixed funding award for tuition fees and books based on academic achievement
Partial to full coverage of tuition costs between 20% and 100%
Partial to full funding for residence accommodation for students with financial need
Once-off living allowance for financially needy recipients
Direct entry into the PwC CA training learnership program

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents.
  • You need a university acceptance or matric pass with university exemption.
  • Matriculants must achieve at least 75% overall, with a minimum B symbol (70%) in Mathematics and English.
  • Current tertiary students require an average of at least 70% in first or second year, or 65% in third or fourth year.
  • You must study full-time at a SAICA-accredited university toward a CA qualification.
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, digital, and problem-solving skills.

You do not qualify if

  • Students enrolled in mathematical literacy rather than pure mathematics in matric are not eligible.
  • Bridging courses designed to gain entry into accredited degrees are not funded.
  • Non-accredited institutions or non-CA stream degree programs do not qualify.

Documents you need to submit

  • Certified copy of South African identity document
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Full academic transcript on official tertiary letterhead
  • Official proof of university registration or admission letter
  • Proof of household income using three recent payslips, bank statements, or affidavit
