About this bursary

The Executive Mayor of Rand West City Local Municipality provides financial support for local youth entering higher education. This funding initiative helps students from the municipal area pursue undergraduate degrees or vocational artisan training at public institutions.

The award aims to assist candidates living within Rand West City who face financial constraints. Priority is given to applicants from indigent households and socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • Applicants must live within the Rand West City Local Municipality in Gauteng.
  • You must be currently in matric or have passed matric with admission to tertiary study.
  • Funding is available for full-time undergraduate or artisan training qualifications only.
  • Studies must be taken at a public South African university, university of technology, or TVET college.
  • The qualification duration must be at least one year or three to four academic years.
  • Combined gross household income must not exceed R350 000 per year.
  • Preference is given to applicants from families registered on the municipal indigent database.

You do not qualify if

  • Postgraduate students do not qualify for this bursary.
  • Students attending private higher education institutions are not eligible.
  • Applicants living outside Rand West City Local Municipality will not be considered.
  • Households earning above R350 000 per year are excluded.

  • Certified copy of death certificate if parents are deceased
  • Parents or guardians proof of income, recent payslips, affidavit, or grant proof
  • Medical doctor certificate if applicant has a permanent disability
