About this bursary

The Royal Bafokeng Holdings Bursary funds young people from the Royal Bafokeng Nation who plan to study towards becoming Chartered Accountants. The scheme covers first-year undergraduate studies starting in 2027.

Royal Bafokeng Holdings is an investment management company that works alongside the Royal Bafokeng Nation Development Trust. The organisation manages financial assets to support the social and infrastructure needs of the Bafokeng community.

Applicants must live within the Royal Bafokeng Nation in the North West province and must attend a public university that holds SAICA accreditation. Dual funding with NSFAS or other private bursaries is not allowed.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • You must be a South African citizen under 35 years old.
  • You must reside within the Royal Bafokeng Nation in the North West province.
  • You must be currently unemployed.
  • You must be in matric or have already passed matric.
  • You need a minimum score of Level 5 (60%) for pure Mathematics, English, and Accounting in matric.
  • You must have acceptance into a first-year CA-stream accounting degree at a SAICA-accredited public university for 2027.
  • You cannot hold NSFAS or any other bursary funding for the 2027 academic year.

You do not qualify if

  • Students who take Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics do not qualify.
  • Applicants who live outside the Royal Bafokeng Nation territory are ineligible.
  • Students receiving NSFAS or other bursary support for 2027 will not be considered.

Documents you need to submit

  • Certified copy of South African ID document (not older than three months)
  • Grade 11 final results and Matric Term 1 to 3 results
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate when available
  • Proof of official or provisional university acceptance at a SAICA-accredited public university
  • Proof of residence (Lekwalo la Kgosana, not older than three months)
  • Brief Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary

Document checks and background vetting apply to all submissions. Shortlisted candidates must supply parent or guardian ID copies later.
