About this bursary
The SAAFoST Undergraduate Bursary is funded by the South African Association for Food Science and Technology Foundation. It pays tuition costs up to R60 000 per year for students completing an undergraduate degree or diploma in food science and technology.
This funding targets current SAAFoST members enrolled full-time at accredited South African tertiary institutions. The programme aims to develop skilled professionals within the local food sector based on academic performance, equity, and leadership potential.
Bursary payouts go straight to the university in two installments, with the second half dependent on mid-year results. Recipients must submit progress reports every six months and participate in SAAFoST activities. If a student fails, drops out, or changes courses, the bursary converts into a loan that must be repaid.
