About this bursary
The SANRAL High School Scholarship provides financial assistance and academic support to learners entering Grade 8 through Grade 12. Funded by the South African National Roads Agency, the scholarship covers tuition, uniforms, books, transport, and extra lessons.
This opportunity is designed for academically capable learners from households with limited financial resources. Selection relies on academic performance and household income.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must be entering Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11, or Grade 12 in the 2027 academic year.
- You must be registered to study at an endorsed South African high school.
- You must have achieved an overall average mark of at least 60% in your latest academic results.
- Your household total income must be less than R550 000 per year.
- Learners with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants who are not South African citizens.
- Learners with an overall academic average below 60%.
- Learners from households earning R550 000 or more per year.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of applicant ID document or birth certificate
- Certified copy of June 2026 academic results
- Two-page motivational letter written by the applicant about themselves and why they deserve funding
- Motivational letter from the school principal
- Motivational letter from parents or guardians
- Certified copies of parents or guardians ID documents
- Proof of parent or guardian income (recent payslips, or affidavit if unemployed or self-employed, not older than 3 months)
- Proof of residence (recent municipal water and electricity account)
Submit certified copies of all listed documentation. Missing documents will lead to disqualification.
