About this bursary
Santam offers financial funding for undergraduate and postgraduate students entering their second, third, or Honours year in 2027. The award covers tuition, registration, housing, study materials, laptops, and general living allowances up to an set cap limit. StudyTrust handles the application administration for this scheme.
The bursary forms part of Santam's Skills Development Academy, created to develop specialized skills for South Africa's financial, insurance, and agricultural sectors. It aims to build a strong pipeline of skilled graduates qualified in technical and analytical disciplines.
Agricultural students receive additional development opportunities, including assigned mentors, vacation work placements, and automatic inclusion in Santam's graduate recruitment pipeline.
Obligation
Agricultural graduates may be offered permanent positions as trainee area managers.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must hold South African citizenship and have completed matric.
- Applicants must be entering their second year, third year, or Honours degree in 2027 within an approved discipline.
- You need an academic average of at least 65% from your current university studies and latest examination results.
- You must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited public university in South Africa.
- Agriculture candidates should follow a curriculum focused on crop production, plant science, or soil science.
- Preference goes to Employment Equity candidates who show strong interest in short-term insurance careers.
You do not qualify if
- First-year undergraduate students are not eligible.
- Non-South African citizens will not be considered.
- Students studying at private unaccredited colleges are excluded.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of South African ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Certified copy of complete tertiary academic transcript
- Proof of household income (payslips, letters from employers, financial statements, or affidavits)
- Death certificates if parents are deceased
- Divorce decree or separation affidavit where relevant
- Clear recent profile photo
- Proof of residential address
All supporting documentation must be clearly certified.
