About this bursary
The Sasol Foundation Bursary offers comprehensive financial support for South African students entering tertiary study. Administered by Sasol Limited, the programme funds undergraduate qualifications in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and select non-STEM degrees.
This bursary addresses historical imbalances by helping talented students from low-income households gain access to South African public universities. Non-STEM support specifically targets applicants residing near Sasol operations or children of company employees and Khanyisa shareholders.
Funding prioritises applicants focusing on digitalisation and the green economy. To qualify, household income must remain below R800 000 per year.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- Applicants must hold South African citizenship by birth and be 25 years old or younger.
- Candidates must currently be in matric or have passed matric during the preceding year.
- Engineering and science degree applicants need at least 70% in Mathematics and Physical Science, alongside 60% in English.
- BEng Tech candidates require a minimum of 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science, with at least 50% to 60% in English depending on the language level.
- Current university students must maintain an academic average of at least 60% with no failed modules across at least five registered subjects.
- Total annual household income must not exceed R800 000.
You do not qualify if
- Postgraduate applicants are not eligible for this bursary.
- Candidates older than 25 years of age cannot apply.
- Students attending private higher education institutions are excluded.
- Applicants with a combined family income higher than R800 000 per year will not be considered.
