About this bursary
The Schauenburg Education Trust Bursary assists students pursuing degrees in high-demand fields like engineering and commercial management. Managed by the trust established by Schauenburg Systems, this award fully funds undergraduate studies at selected public universities in Gauteng.
The trust aims to drive national economic transformation by removing financial obstacles for promising Black youth. Funding priority goes toward disciplines critical to technological and corporate growth in South Africa.
Bursary holders must participate in practical work experience at Schauenburg Systems each mid-year break. Applicants must maintain solid academic performance and cannot hold concurrent bursary awards.
Obligation
Recipients must complete a minimum of three weeks of vacation work or job shadowing at Schauenburg Systems during mid-year university breaks.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must hold South African citizenship and fall under the legal definition of Black according to B-BBEE criteria.
- You must have completed Matric and be registered as a full-time undergraduate student.
- You need to be entering your second, third, or fourth year of study in 2027.
- Your studies must be based at the University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, Wits, or NWU Vanderbijlpark campus.
- You must demonstrate strong academic progress and have passed all enrolled courses.
- Preference is given to Black female applicants, candidates under 35 years old, and students with disabilities.
You do not qualify if
- First-year students and postgraduate applicants are not eligible.
- Students holding any other active bursary or funding arrangement will be disqualified.
- Applicants enrolled at private institutions or universities outside the specified list cannot apply.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of your South African identity document
- Certified copy of your National Senior Certificate or Matric results
- Official full academic transcript to date on university letterhead
- Motivational letter explaining your financial need and merits (up to 800 words)
- Proof of household income such as recent payslips or official unemployment affidavits
