Who can apply

You qualify if

  • Applicants must be South African citizens by birth.
  • You must be completing Matric or already hold a matriculation certificate.
  • You need to study or plan to study full-time towards an undergraduate STEM or automation degree at a public university in South Africa.
  • You must enter your first, second, or third year of university during 2027.
  • Matric students need June 2026 results showing at least 70% in Mathematics, 70% in Physical Science, and 60% in English.
  • Current university students must maintain an overall academic average of at least 65%.
  • Demonstrated financial need is compulsory for consideration.

You do not qualify if

  • Postgraduate applicants.
  • Non-South African citizens or citizens by naturalisation.
  • Students registered at private or unaccredited tertiary institutions.
