About this bursary

The SEDISA Trust Bursary provides financial backing for Black female South African citizens entering or continuing higher education. Founded as an educational trust linked to KAEFER Thermal Contracting Services, the trust funds full-time studies across registered South African public tertiary institutions.

This funding scheme aims to empower young women from low-income households who show high academic capability. Financial support is offered across all academic disciplines, covering undergraduate diplomas and degrees as well as postgraduate honours and master's qualifications.

Applicants must have completed Matric with a core mathematics background and maintain at least a 65% aggregate to qualify for selection.

Who can apply

You qualify if

  • South African citizenship is mandatory.
  • Applicants must be female and Black according to B-BBEE definitions.
  • Candidates must be between 16 and 35 years of age.
  • Successful completion of Matric is required, including Core Mathematics as a subject.
  • Applicants must maintain an overall academic average of at least 65%.
  • Enrolment or acceptance at a recognized South African tertiary institution is required.
  • Applicants must show verified financial need and come from an economically disadvantaged background.

You do not qualify if

  • Non-South African citizens.
  • Male applicants.
  • Students who took Mathematical Literacy instead of Core Mathematics in Matric.
  • Applicants with an academic average below 65%.
  • Students enrolled at unaccredited private training institutions.
