About this bursary
The SANSOR Bursary provides financial support to postgraduate students pursuing qualifications aligned with the South African seed sector. Managed by the South African National Seed Organization, this grant assists Honours, Masters, and Doctoral candidates engaged in scientific research.
The programme focuses on developing high-level skills for the local seed trade. By funding advanced studies, SANSOR aims to build technical knowledge and strengthen research capabilities within agriculture.
Funding is granted for one academic year at a time. Recipient payouts are transferred directly to university student accounts in two separate instalments, subject to academic progress.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen by birth.
- You must hold a completed undergraduate degree.
- You must be enrolled or registering for Honours, Masters, or PhD studies related to the seed sector for the 2027 academic year.
- Your study must be based at an accredited public university in South Africa.
- Your research topic must support SANSOR's strategic mission and add value to the seed industry.
- You must not hold any government funding for the same study period without disclosing it.
You do not qualify if
- Applicants who are not South African citizens by birth.
- Students studying undergraduate diplomas or degrees.
- Candidates who receive undisclosed government funding.
