About this bursary
The Foschini Group offers the Data Science and Leadership Fellowship to postgraduate students across South Africa. Administered by StudyTrust, the bursary supports research and coursework Masters qualifications in data science and connected fields.
TFG created this initiative to develop highly skilled data analysts for both the retail industry and the broader South African economy. The company views data expertise as an essential tool for smart business decisions and efficient resource distribution.
Recipients gain full financial cover for their tertiary expenses and get the opportunity to attend an official event hosted at the TFG Head Office in Cape Town.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must study towards or plan to enrol in a coursework or research Masters degree in Data Science or a related subject.
- You must enter your first or second year of Masters studies in the 2027 academic year.
- You must be accepted or registered at a recognised public university in South Africa.
- You must show consistent academic achievement, strong leadership potential, creativity, and innovation.
- Preference will be given to candidates from designated demographic groups.
You do not qualify if
- Non-South African citizens.
- Students enrolled at private universities or private colleges.
- Undergraduate students or doctoral candidates.
Documents you need to submit
- Certified copy of your South African ID document
- Complete academic record, including June 2026 examination results or progress report
- Official proof of acceptance from a public South African university
- Clear, professional head-and-shoulders photograph
