About this bursary
Volkswagen Group Africa offers comprehensive undergraduate bursaries for South African students studying engineering, technology, business, and finance disciplines. The funding package covers essential academic and living expenses for full-time study at accredited South African public universities.
This bursary targets full-time students in their second, third, or final year of undergraduate study. The programme aims to build technical and professional capacity within the automotive sector, giving preference to students from designated groups in line with transformation objectives.
Recipients must complete a work-back commitment after graduation matching the number of funded academic years. Students also benefit from practical vacation work experience, structured mentoring, and academic support throughout their studies.
Obligation
Recipients must work for Volkswagen Group Africa for one year per funded academic year.

Who can apply
You qualify if
- You must be a born South African citizen who has completed Matric with a Bachelor's pass.
- A minimum matric overall average of 70% is required.
- You must be studying full-time towards an eligible undergraduate degree at a recognized South African university.
- Applicants must enter their second, third, or fourth year of study in 2027.
- A minimum tertiary academic average of 65% is required across all completed years.
- You cannot be employed on a full-time basis.
- Preference is given to candidates from designated groups to align with transformation targets.
You do not qualify if
- Master's or Doctoral degree students do not qualify.
- First-year students entering higher education in 2027 are not eligible.
- Full-time employed individuals cannot apply.
- Non-South African citizens do not qualify.

- Certified copy of 2026 proof of registration
- Copy of lease agreement if residing in off-campus housing
- Comprehensive CV detailing background and experience
- One to two page motivational letter
- Parents or guardians ID documents or death certificates if deceased
- Parental consent form and parent ID for applicants under 18 years
All certified documents must be less than three months old. Merge multiple documents into single files where required.
