51% Black-owned Corporate customer required Cost-sharing Up to R1m per applicant
The idea in one paragraph
BBSDP does not fund ideas. It funds interventions that make an existing Black-owned SMME a better supplier to an existing corporate customer. If you are a 51% Black-owned business, already have a signed customer relationship (purchase orders, service level agreement, sub-contract), and want to invest in the tools, systems, or training that let you scale that relationship, BBSDP will share the cost with you.
The cost-share ratios you need to plan around

DTIC pays 50% of qualifying capex; you fund the balance.

Skills, systems, marketing collateral
DTIC pays 80% of qualifying training, quality-management, and marketing costs; you fund 20%.
The R1 million cap is on your total lifetime BBSDP claim, not per year. Stagger applications across multiple interventions to make the ceiling last.

Who qualifies
- SMME with at least 51% Black South African ownership (per Codes of Good Practice)
- Registered with CIPC and tax-compliant (Tax Clearance Certificate from SARS)
- An existing signed customer contract or verifiable purchase-order history
- Turnover under R35 million a year
- Trading for at least one financial year
Application flow on the DTIC IEP portal
- Register on the DTIC Incentive Enterprise Portal (IEP) with your CIPC number.
- Complete the BBSDP business profile. The system pre-populates SARS and CIPC data automatically.
- Upload the customer contract or purchase-order evidence. This is the single most-checked document.
- Upload three quotes for each capex line item (tools, machinery). One quote for services and training.
- Submit. DTIC acknowledges within 5 working days and issues an adjudication number.
- On approval, DTIC pays the supplier directly. Your co-contribution is settled separately.
