Delete My Data
This page lets you request permanent deletion of the personal data grantZA holds about you. You can either use the self-service tool below to delete everything immediately, or email us and we will handle it within 30 days.
What data do we hold about you?
grantZA only holds personal data if you have actively given it to us. Depending on how you have used the site, we may hold some or all of the following:
- Community account: your Google display name, email address, profile picture and unique Google user ID, kept for as long as your account exists.
- Community posts and replies: anything you have written on the grantZA community, tied to your Google user ID.
- Community reports: any reports you have filed against other posts.
- Contact form correspondence: your name, email, and message contents if you have written to us through the contact form.
We do not keep the ID number, cellphone number, SASSA reference or SRD status you may have typed into the status check tool. Those pass through our server once and are discarded, so there is nothing on that side to delete.
Option 1: Self-service (recommended)
Delete everything now
Sign in with the Google account you used on the site. We will show you exactly what we hold, and one click removes all of it. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
Your Google password is never seen by grantZA. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication.
Loading your data…
Here is exactly what grantZA holds under this Google account:
To confirm, type the word DELETE in capital letters below and press Confirm.
Option 2: Email us
If self-service is not for you
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject Data deletion request. Include the Google email address you used on the site so we can find your data.
We handle every request personally within 30 days and email you when it is done. If you contacted us through the contact form under a different email, mention that too so we can clear that thread as well.
What we cannot delete
- Web-server access logs older than 30 days are kept for security auditing and are not tied to any identity. These roll off automatically.
- Anonymous analytics (page views, browser type, rough province) that never carried your identity in the first place.
- Aggregated statistics such as "N threads posted this month" that no longer identify you.
- A short audit record confirming your deletion request completed, holding only a hash of your email and the counts of what was removed. This is required so we can prove the deletion happened if we ever have to.
Your rights under POPIA
This process complies with the deletion rights described in our Privacy Policy and section 24 of South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act. You may also ask what data we hold before deleting it — the self-service tool above answers that in the same step.
