High Court Ruling Could Push SRD to R450 and Extend It to 18 Million People

A Pretoria High Court ruling on the SRD regulations could open the grant to roughly 18 million people, up from 8.3 million today, and push the monthly amount from R370 to about R450 in line with the food poverty line. Treasury warns the change would add R93.5 billion a year to social spending.
